Total Triage Q&A
In September, we launched a new appointment system called Total Triage.
The system aims to get you the correct advice, appointment, and treatment from the right person, at the right time.
We have answered your most frequently asked questions below.
Who are the Triage team?
The Triage team is led by a GP who is supported by senior receptionists.
Do I need an account to book an appointment through the link?
No, you do not need an account or to be signed up to anything. However, to book an appointment through the link, you do need a phone that allows you internet access.
Is booking through the link complicated?
No, it is simple to use! You just need to enter your date of birth, choose your appointment date, time, and confirm.
What if there are no appointments left on the link when I click on it? Do not worry, the link is accessible for 7 days. Appointments are added on daily. You can check every day to choose an appointment that works for you. If after 7 days, you haven’t managed to book an appointment, please speak to the reception team and they will assist you.
Do I need to have a booking link?
No. If you are unable to use a link or receive a link, please let the reception team know and the triage team will ring you back. However, we encourage as many patients as possible to try the link if they can.
How can I access the surgery to request an appointment? Does it need to be online through the website?
You can ring the surgery, come to the front desk, or fill out an online form. Whichever way you choose, you will receive the same service and outcome. You will be asked a series of questions to collect the correct information, and this will be passed on to the Triage team who will then contact you later that day.
Do I need to contact at 8am?
No, you can contact the surgery between 8am and 5.30pm to request an appointment (please note online triage is open 8am- 4pm). After 5.30pm, routine surgery is closed for the day. We are still open for other queries until 6.30pm.
What time is online Triage open until?
Online Triage is open 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday. However, if the demand is high, we may need to temporarily close it earlier to manage capacity.
What happens when the Triage is full?
Once all the appointments have been allocated for the day, you will be sign posted accordingly by the reception team to an appropriate alternative service. If your issue is urgent for that day, you could be directed to 111, a walk-in centre or A&E.
What if I have an emergency? For example, a very poorly child?
If you have a clinical emergency then you should still access the most appropriate service, either visiting the nearest A&E or call 999.
Finally… Thank you
We wish to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all our patients for your support and patience as we introduce this new way of accessing care. We have received a great deal of positive feedback which we appreciate.
