Appointment Changes – Total Triage

Posted on:

From Monday 9th September 2024, we are changing to a new appointment system called Total Triage. This system aims to get you the correct advice, appointment, and treatment from the right person at the right time.

    • Requests for appointments will be assessed by our triage team to consider if the medical problem is urgent or routine based on the information you provide. The triage team will also consider if it is suitable to signpost you to an alternative health service.
    • You will no longer need to contact only at 8am to get an appointment.

We recognise the frustrations patients face trying to contact the practice on the phone or queuing before we open at 8am. Total Triage has been shown to reduce waiting times and it enables us to attend to your medical needs more promptly.

      • Whichever way you choose to contact us (online, in person or over the phone), your request will be passed onto the triage team, they will then contact you to arrange an appropriate appointment or signpost you to the correct service. Please note this will mean you will not be offered an appointment at the time you contact the surgery.
      • It’s important you provide as much information as possible to the reception team for the triage team to assess your request appropriately.
      • Please let us know your preferred contact number. The triage team, with your permission may send a booking link via text message so you can book your own appointment online at a suitable time for you.
      • If you do not have access to the internet, please inform our reception team and they will mark this on your request. A member of the triage team will contact you directly to book the most appropriate appointment once they have assessed your request.

Our team is here to guide and support you navigate this new change. Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We hope that these changes to the appointments system will improve your experience and as always, we will be monitoring these changes.  We’d like to thank you in advance for your support and understanding as we develop our new appointments system.

Please note, routine Health Care Assistant and Practice Nurse appointments can still be booked in the usual way.
