We have been running a successful stopping smoking scheme sponsored by Derbyshire county PCT. Patients see our health care assistant for an 8 week scheme of weekly support and encouragement as well as free vouchers for nicotine replacement therapy (eg. lozenges or nicotine patches ).These vouchers are cashed in at a local chemist of the patient's choice. To enter the scheme please see one of our doctors or practice nurses. You will need to set with the doctor or nurse a quit date from when you will stop smoking. If you are seriously interested in stopping smoking THIS is the scheme for YOU. If you do see a doctor or nurse for any appointment and the issue of smoking comes up you may well be offered the opportunity to take part in this scheme. If our health care assistant is on holiday and you are enrolled in the scheme you will be seeing one of the practice nursing sisters instead.
In a survey we have just done of patients who took part in the scheme from April 2004 to March 2005:
85 of 232 patients are known to have stopped smoking through the scheme. This success rate of 37% is a good one for any stopping smoking scheme.
If you would like to find out more or enrol please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org giving us a daytime phone number and we will call you back
