Self Referral

A number of local NHS services can be accessed directly without seeing a GP first.

Talking Therapies

Talking Therapies are a type of treatment used for problems including stress, anxiety, low mood and depression. Often this is more effective than medication and is recommended as the first choice of treatment for many people.

In Erewash we have several providers of Talking Therapies who accept referrals directly from patients. They are:

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is the recommended treatment for many joint and muscle problems. It can be particularly useful for low back pain, neck pain, strains, sprains and some types of arthritis.

If you are over 16 years old the Physiotherapy department at Ilkeston Community Hospital will accept self referrals via telephone call to 01335230079.

Podiatry (also called Chiropody)

Many people suffer with problems such as ingrowing toenails, bunions, flat feet or simply not being able to reach and cut their own toenails. The Podiatry department at Ilkeston Community Hospital accepts self referrals for a range of foot and toenail problems.

To self refer you need to complete a paper form and return it to Podiatry Department, Ilkeston Community Hospital. You can obtain a copy of this form from reception at Littlewick Medical Centre or The Dales.
