If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
As from the end of May we have allocated set travel appointments that can be booked into throughout the week at various times. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will not be able to offer travel outside of these appointments and so once these are fully booked you will be directed to alternative travel clinics.
Prior to booking an appointment, fill out a copy of the travel vaccination form and return to the surgery
Travel Vaccination Form
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
August 2017 - National Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B Vaccine Shortage
Due to a national shortage we are currently unable to provide vaccination against hepatitis A or hepatitis B for any travellers. Other vaccines are unaffected and we can still discuss reducing your risk of these infections in other ways during your appointment with the nurse. Once this national shortage is resolved we will once more offer these vaccines however it may be several months before this happens.
